GINGER SAILOR!
This is an improvement of mine “Sailor!”. I had the feeling all this time that I should add some colour to my sketches. And that’s the result! I like how is looking the ginger beard.
RUSTING IN A LONELY HARBOUR!
This is the first illustration that I’ve started for my sketchbook project but I abandoned it until today. I was waiting for some kind of inspiration to finish it. Yesterday, I found out an old 1900’s The New York Times newspaper writing about some harbour diver. And here we are. I love to draw the “rustiness” and make things look old.
NANTUCKET OLD MAP!
I’ve carried on with Herman Melville’s Moby Dick inspiration and all the sailoring and whaling in 1800’s world. This time, I tried to sketch a map of Nantucket. I’d said this island could be one of my favourites places in the world even if I never been there. I tried to capture that aged look essence of those old and utterly worn maps.
WHALERS LETTERS!
I’m still inspired by Herman Melville’s Moby Dick and all the sailoring and whaling in 1800’s world. That particular moment of history is so unique and authentic that it’s kicking my mind constantly.
This one, it took me a lot of energy by the way. It was quite hard trying to draw the stamps and seals. But at the same time, I certainly believe that could be the one that I enjoyed the most.
CABINET OF CURIOSITIES!
An exposition called “Cabinet of curiosities”  at the Museum of Natural Science was inspiring to draw this piece. All those drawers were fully loaded of unexpected wonders. Rarities and odd objects where the imagination could live and rest.
WHALING!
I have added a white border to the shapes and dots to the black background. The ropes were quite fun to draw. But the rustiness is the best thing to draw adding realism, dramatism and an older look.

WHALE MEAT CAN ADVERT!
I have added some more rustiness to the can. And I feel that it looks better now. I was trying to do something similar to those 1800’s newspapers adverts. Their designs were quite captivating and inspiring.
Before this, following some advice from my childhood friend @kashinorei (by the way, do not hesitate to check out his work drawing @theorville comic) I decided to add some ink filling few letters.
